We spend too much time being beige.
We spend too much time being beige. In our communication. In our branding. In how we SHOW UP in life in general.
We play it safe rather than risk ruffling the feathers of 'what's normal'. But your uniquely, fabulously, magically, colourful self gets lost in the sea of sameness. And that's not what living a purpose-fuelled life is all about.
And before you go rolling your eyes at me.... you are uniquely, fabulously, and magically colourful. Trust me. You've just been using the same palette of beige and dark beige for too long.
Want to know some of my tricks to find your unique, fabulous, magical colour palette? The palette you can use to share yourself with the world. Let's go...
1. Write down a list of at least 5 things you probably don't want other people to know about you.... pimple Popping YouTube videos? the ability to recount the lyrics to all Rick Astley songs? Keep going... I know you can find them. Our first assumption is that we are boring... but really, we've been conditioned to hide our uniqueness under the 'guise' of what's acceptable behaviour. It's a bollocks.
2. Write out the name of each job you've had since you started working. Next to it write one thing you learned from that job. It could be about a skill you developed, something learned from dealing with that arse-hat colleague, or a realisation about the kind of work you DON'T like doing. Reflect on the combination of skills and lessons in this list. Woah baby. What a special offering you have!
3. Write out a bucket list of AT LEAST 50 things you'd like to experience in your lifetime. Once you have finished this list, review it and consider what this shows about your goals and interests.
Look at that! I challenge you to look over the results of these three activities and tell me that you aren't a unique and fabulous creature. Now go and paint your world with all the colours of your palette.
